The two specially designed readymade chambers are interconnected scientifically by using a interconnected device at a preconceived point to allow the flow of effluent from primary chamber (main tank) to the another chamber (subsidiary tank). This interconnection is so designed and fixed that the outlet connection does not allow the flow of excreta (raw night soil) from primary chamber (main tank) to the another chamber (subsidiary tank) unless it is absolutely liquefied. A smaller diameter pipe is also fixed between these two readymade chambers at point above the water level to allow the flow of gas from primary chamber to the auxiliary chamber and vice-versa.

The raw night soil entering into the main chamber (primary chamber) at first floats over the surface of water and gradually it settles down to the bottom of the tank. Here it rots (decomposes). In this way the previous night soil is covered by this fresh intake of night soil. This continuously accumulating night soil decomposes due to bacterial action. The gas produced by the bacterial activities and entrapped in the particles of night soil reduces their weight and forces them to rise up till the pressure of gas entrapped in the particle is equal to the pressure of water (hydrostatic pressure). But due to the momentum of moving particle is rises slightly above and the pressure of the gas becomes more than the hydrostatic pressure, thereby resulting in the exploding of the particle into smaller once.

These smaller particles being heavier, again settle down and further decomposes by the bacterial action. The process goes on till the entire night soil particles gets decomposed or completely mixed with water and at that stage being lighter, flows with effluent to subsidiary tank. The gases produced by this process, are allowed to escape through the vent pipes. The effluent coming out of the subsidiary tank is quite clean with very low turbidity and foul smell. The decomposed night soil also flows with the effluent in the form of very small particles completely mixed with water.

The experiments conducted at this septic system also belied the old theory of Septic tank latrine that they would not function satisfactorily if the disinfectants such as phenol, bleaching power, acids etc., are used for cleaning toilets. The EverClean Shankar Septic Tank continues to work even if these material are used in the toilet. The seeding of bacteria required in the initial stage of conventional Septic Tanks are also not required in this case.

The final effluent drain out from the septic tank shall be in perfect liquified state. In this process of liquification starts functioning after 25 days of its installation. Another point should be noted that the septic latrine must not be used unless both the tanks are completely filled with water.
