1. The system is simple and virtually maintenance free

The system has been in use for quite long time in different parts of the country. Very little volume of fully decomposed matter flows out of the tank with effluent making it maintenance free and eliminating the need of periodic cleaning/emptying. This is a big advantage that the system offers in comparison with other options and Conventional Septic Tank etc. Where periodic cleaning of tanks is necessary. The effluent also has very little foul smell. It is very simple to construct/install the system as most of the components are pre cast and very little construction work is done at the site.

2. Can be installed in almost any situation

The system is based on the use of two specially designed readymade chamber of cement concrete which are relatively strong and not influenced by swelling and shrinkage properties of soil, a common problem in black Cotton Soil areas of Deccan plateau or other soils having the property of swelling an shrinkage with moisture. The conventional Septic Tanks, Leaching pits of other types of septic tank, Soakage pit of conventional Septic Tank very often develop cracks in such areas. Further, there are problems in functioning of Septic Tanks, Hand Flushed Water Seal Latrines during monsoon due to rains or rise in sub-soil water table as both can cause pollution of adjoining soil, back flow of sewage and structural problems. The EverClean Shankar Septic Tank can be constructed in very high water table areas as very little construction is required at site and readymade chambers can be lowered even in standing water. The concrete in the base can be laid after removing water.

3. The system is cost effective

The EverClean Septic Tank is very cost effective as one time investment itself is much less than the conventional Septic Tank, with no maintenance cost. Requirement of material, labour and time for construction of one unit is also much less.

4. The system is more efficient

The test conducted on the effluents from different units conclusively indicated that the system is more efficient then the conventional Septic Tank in reducing BOD, COD, Suspended solids, Volatile Solids etc. The effluent when mixed with the rest of the household waste water from kitchen and bath room will further dilute the same making it reasonably fit to be discharged into open drain as far as the parameter of BOD, COD, Suspended Solids, Volatile and Dissolved Solids is concerned. The parameters related to bacteriological/pathogens/Helmiths/cysts have not been evaluated because of the limitation of study.
